Program introduction
The Hong Kong Education Bureau launched the "Intelligence for Learning" funding program on October 25, 2024, aiming to promote artificial intelligence education in local primary and secondary schools. The plan will be in line with the continued promotion of STEAM education in primary and secondary schools proposed by the Chief Executive in the 2024 Policy Address, and will use science subjects in junior high schools as a pilot to support schools in integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into learning and teaching.

Program details
- Object: All publicly funded secondary schools (including government secondary schools, aided secondary schools, caput secondary schools, and direct subsidy secondary schools)
- Appropriation amount: Schools that successfully apply will receive a one-off grant of HK$100,000
- Purpose of appropriation:
- Arrange science teachers to enroll in short courses, lectures and workshops related to artificial intelligence teaching
- Collaborate with post-secondary institutions or professional institutions to develop support plans for AI-assisted teaching
- Develop relevant learning and teaching resources
- Application procedure: Schools must complete the application form and commitment letter on or before February 28, 2025, and return it to the Science Education Section of the Education Bureau by mail or fax.
- Participating schools commit to:
- Develop at least 2 teaching examples or resources on the application of artificial intelligence in science (Secondary 1 to 3)
- Organize at least 1 open class or demonstration class (in school or outside school) using artificial intelligence to assist teaching in science (Second 1 to 3)
- Organize at least 1 experience sharing session (on-campus or off-campus)

- Arrange for teachers to participate in diverseAI training courses: Covers topics such as artificial intelligence ethics, artificial intelligence basics and auxiliary teaching applications, using artificial intelligence tools for image recognition scientific exploration activities, and using artificial intelligence tools to construct scientific prediction models.
- Collaborate with post-secondary institutions or professional organizations: Use the professional knowledge and resources of colleges or institutions to carry out AI-assisted teaching support plans, such as:
- Co-design and develop AI teaching resources
- Provide teachers with guidance and support for AI teaching
- Host AI teaching workshops and seminars
- Teaching cases for developing AI integrated into science courses: For example, AI tools are used for scientific inquiry, data analysis, and prediction model building, etc., allowing students to experience the application of AI in the scientific field.
