Bill Gates: AI poses risks but is controllable, and is a "revolutionary innovation" comparable to the advent of PCs

Bill Gates published an article titled "AI does have risks, but they are controllable" on his personal blog, discussing the risks that exist in the current development of artificial intelligence. He mentioned five major risks: (1) erroneous information generated by AI may be abused to deceive the public; (2) AI can automatically search for system vulnerabilities, increasing the risk of cyber attacks; (3) AI may cause unemployment; (4) AI systems Bias may exist; (5) Use of AI tools may prevent students from learning basic skills while widening educational achievement gaps. These risks require attention, but Gates also emphasized that these risks can be resolved through control.

On July 11, local time in the United States, Bill Gates published a blog post on his personal blog, expressing his views on the current development of artificial intelligence. The blog post is titled "AI Does Pose Risks, But They Are Controllable." Gates mentioned five major risks associated with AI as follows:

(1)AI-generated misinformation and deepfakes could be used to deceive the public.

(2)AI can automatically search for vulnerabilities in computer systems, significantly increasing the risk of cyberattacks.

(3)AI may take away people's jobs.

(4)AI systems can generate false information and exhibit biases.

(5)Using AI tools may mean that students are unable to learn basic skills such as essay writing, while also widening the educational achievement gap.
